The band are due to release their upcoming album ‘Pugnello‘ on September 25 via Rough Trade Records – pre-order it here. They kicked things off with their first new song in four years, ‘Giraffe’, followed by the abrasive ‘Placeholder’.

Now, they’ve taken it up a notch with the jittering ‘Alogia’. Complemented by Kiely’s tortured vocals, it sees the narrator descend from fantasising about a life with “steady structure, routine and purpose” into a brutal breakdown, repeating syllables over and over until they cry: “Alogia!”.
Frontman Dara Kiely explains: “Alogia means poverty of speech linked to mental health conditions I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia while writing the lyrics. I thought I could just walk off the old mental illness but alas!”.
Gilla Band are due to go tour in October, where they’ll kick things off in North America. The tour will commence at Philadelphia’s Underground Arts on October 14, where they’ll traverse through Brooklyn, Montreal, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles and plenty more, rounding off at Washington’s Atlantis on November 15.
Then, they’ll arrive in Europe to play Paris’ Trabendo on January 20. Visiting Brussels, Copenhagen, Berlin, Vienna, Milan and more, they’ll play their first UK show on February 10 at Bristol’s Trinity.
The following day (11), they’ll play a show at London’s Heaven, moving to Manchester’s Band On The Wall (12) before concluding their tour at the Grand Classic in Glasgow (13).
