Brandon Flowers on which of his solo tracks “would’ve been a large Killers song”

Brandon Flowers has revealed which of his solo tracks he thinks could have been a big hit if it were released by The Killers.

The band’s frontman dropped his third solo album, ‘Thrasher’, at the end of last month via Island – having already previewed it with singles ‘Plans’, ‘Paradise’ and ‘Tiger’s Blood’.

In a recent Q&A with fans, he spoke about balancing his work with The Killers with his own solo endeavours. He was asked by one follower if there was a solo song of his that he thought could have worked as a Killers track.

That single received mixed reviews when it first dropped in 2010, but did remain at the top of NME’s charts for several weeks. ‘Crossfire’ peaked at Number Eight in the UK, making it Flowers’ highest-charting solo song to date.

The sound of the track does have a distinctively similar feel to that of some stripped-back Killers cuts, easing in with a gentle melody and tender vocals, before gradually building to a euphoric chorus.

Flowers is playing ‘Crossfire’ on his current North America tour in support of his new solo record, ahead of his UK and Ireland gigs this autumn.

Ahead of the release, the singer also spoke to NME about how the album was inspired by his childhood, as well as tackling the “loneliness epidemic” for an incoming “sister record” and what’s next for The Killers.

When asked about whether there was another album from the rock icons on the way, he replied: “It’s not in the can, but the guys have been really great and accommodating about coming to Salt Lake to write and get demos going.

We meet periodically in Salt Lake, and that’s just on account of where I’m at as a father… They’ve been great about it, and we’re just going to keep chipping away.
