The original track initially features on Rodrigo’s critically acclaimed third album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’. Now, she has remixed the song with Chappell Roan – marking the first time they have featured on a track together.

A nova versão de “Expectations” é produzida pelo seu colaborador mútuo, Dan Nigro, e traz um toque mais lúdico e descontraído ao original.

It also comes with a new music video, which is directed by Bardia Zeinali, features Rodrigo and Roan as different characters going head-to-head in a retro gameshow called ‘The Big Expectations Show’.

Replicando a estrutura clássica de programas de jogos dos anos 80 e 90, o vídeo também mostra a lenda dos Talking Heads David Byrne como apresentador, e Dan Nigro como convidado especial.

The new collaboration comes as Roan recently performed at Rodrigo’s inaugural women-led music festival, Daisy Chain Fields. Held at Great Park in Irvine, California at the end of August, the star-studded event raised millions for organisations supporting women and girls, and saw Rodrigo joined by Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan for her headline set.

Quanto à colaboração com David Byrne, a parceria para o videoclipe surge depois que Rodrigo trouxe o cantor como convidado especial no Governors Ball em 2025.

Since then, the ‘Deja Vu’ singer has kicked off her huge ‘Unraveled’ world tour in Connecticut, where she was supported by Wolf Alice.

Demand has since led to numerous extra dates being added, including an extended UK-exclusive residency at The O2 in London. Rodrigo is currently scheduled to play 11 nights at the venue between April 5 and May 10, 2027.

The tour supports ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’, which arrived in June and received a four-and-a-half-star review from NME. “Here is a major popstar who is not afraid to get weirder and more wonderful, to give even more of themselves over in their art,” the review read.
