Sub Focus has announced that £1 from every ticket sold for his upcoming arena shows will be donated to the UK’s grassroots music fund.

The post described the artist as an “absolute legend”, adding: “Funds raised will go to the LIVE Trust, which supports programmes like the Live Line Fund and helps to keep the UK grassroots scene alive.”.

Launched in January 2025, Britain’s concert levy is a voluntary £1-per-ticket contribution on arena and stadium shows with a capacity of more than 5,000. The money is collected by the LIVE Trust and distributed to initiatives supporting the UK’s grassroots music ecosystem through organisations such as the Music Venue Trust and Live Music UK.

The scheme was established in response to the widespread struggles facing the UK’s grassroots music ecosystem, with hundreds of clubs and venues closing over the past decade.

By May this year, it had raised more than £6 million. However, the UK Government has faced widespread criticism after reportedly siphoning £1. 2 million of the funds in tax, despite the independent music sector continuing to face severe financial pressures.

Earlier this year, Music Venue Trust partnered on the launch of Tickets9, a new ethical ticket resale platform aimed at stopping profiteering touts, keeping costs down for fans, and encouraging further support for small live operators.

Amongst other things, the platform automatically adds a £1 donation to the sale of ticket to an arena, open-air or festival show with a capacity of more than 5,000.

In July, former-Prime Minister Keir Starmer's administration announced a raft of other measures aimed at supporting the industry with a total of £45 million set to be spent in the next three years.

Just weeks later, following the transition of power new Labour leader Andy Burnham unveiled a 20% reduction in business tax rates for pubs, clubs and live venues.
