Samsung asks judge to dismiss Dua Lipa’s $15million lawsuit

Samsung later responded to the lawsuit and rejected the accusations from the ‘Dance The Night’ singer, saying that the image was “provided by a content partner for the free streaming service Samsung TV Plus.

It was only used after the content partner had given explicit assurances that all necessary rights had been obtained – including use on sales packaging.”.

It added that it has “great respect for Dua Lipa” and the intellectual property of artists. It also said that it was “open to a constructive solution” with the singer.

In new legal documents filed on Thursday (September 10), the company argues that the singer does not have grounds to sue because there’s “nothing suggesting plaintiff endorses the televisions,” per Rolling Stone.

In the suit, her legal team claimed that she tried to get Samsung to stop using the image, but was faced with a “dismissive and callous” refusal from the company.
