The channel, titled Talking Heads Radio, which runs until from October 1 to October 22 on in-car satellite radios, and until October 31 on the SiriusXM app, promises “five decades of music from David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth” (via Spin), as well as a special reflective conversation between the group, which airs at noon on launch day.
The conversation will be recorded live in front of an audience in New York on September 28, with the Q&A hosted by Este Haim.
It will be another reunion for the ‘80s pioneers, who made their first public appearance together in over 20 years in 2023. They reunited for a Q&A at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11 to celebrate the anniversary of their iconic concert film Stop Making Sense.
Quando questionado então sobre a possibilidade de se apresentarem juntos novamente, Weymouth disse que o grupo estava “apenas saboreando o momento”.
Speaking to NME in 2022 about a potential reunion, Frantz said: “I did try it a couple of times and the last time was about 20 years ago, and after that, David just said: ‘I never want you to ask me that question again.
Não vou abordar essa questão.’ É uma pena e é o que é.”.
Speaking to The Times last year about the prospect, Byrne seemed to be unmoved in his opinion, saying: “On a practical level, trying to recreate the feeling that people had when they were in their early 20s.
The time that they first heard that music? That’s a fool’s errand. And besides, I’m really enjoying what I’m doing.”.
