If you’re of a certain age, Tartelet Records will instantly conjure up memories of summers past. In the mid 2010s, the Copenhagen label went on an absolute tear, putting out some deliciously sunburnt house influenced by jazz and hip-hop by the likes of Max Graef and IMYRMIND. Since then, those sounds may have gone slightly out of vogue, but the label hasn’t lost its touch. Exhibit A: Wille’s latest release. The name says it all, ‘Progressive Balearic’. And before you start searching for Discogs genre tags, it’s amazing that this coinage hasn’t taken off before. The record is a lush bit of sunset house made for the White Isle where the loungey instrumentation of Cafe Del Mar is laid across the wet basslines and springy drums of progressive.
