In partnership with Sziget Festival.

Hungarian singer Barni Kókai, frontman of Budapest-based deathcore band The Southern Oracle, joined Bring Me The Horizon to perform ‘Pray For Plagues’ at Sziget Festival last night (August 14).

The moment occurred two-thirds of the way through the Sheffield band’s headline set on the Budapest festival’s main stage. The highly conceptual show featured an avatar called Eve, who warned of an impending apocalypse.

At one point, Eve asked for a volunteer from the audience to assist the group, explaining that the fate of humanity “rests in this human’s hands”.

Frontman Oli Sykes then searched for said volunteer, before spotting Kókai, who was moving towards the front of the crowd. Sykes suggested that Kókai was the person for the job, given that “he’s already halfway here”.

It’s unclear if Sykes knew that Kókai himself is the frontman of a metal band.

Kókai then took to the stage, delivering an impressive run-through of Bring Me the Horizon’s 2006 deathcore track ‘Pray For Plagues’, which opened their 2006 debut album ‘Count Your Blessings’.

It’s the first time the band have played the track during their current run of festival shows.

Formada em Szeged, Hungria em 2009 – originalmente chamada Slaughter At The Engagement Party – The Southern Oracle lançou seis álbuns. O álbum mais recente da banda, ‘HUNT WHAT YOU FEAR’, foi lançado em dezembro de 2025.

Bring Me The Horizon wowed Sziget with a set that was heavy on pyro, with the band playing on podiums covered in red velvet. As video screens depicted the performance, Sykes was superimposed with a demonic face, as were members of the audience.

Day four of Sziget Festival 2026 also saw performances from Nia Archives, Sigrid, Rose Gray, Skepta and Peggy Gou. The festival concludes today with sets from Jorja Smith, Zimmer90, Skrillex and Soulwax.

Bring Me The Horizon have been revisiting their deathcore beginnings lately. Having played ‘Count Your Blessings’ at Manchester’s BEC Arena twice last month – including their first full performance of the album – they’ve also been incorporating its tracks into their current tour.

They also released a re-recorded version of the album in June, of which Sykes explained: “We can’t have this record sounding like what bands sound like today. It needs to be the best version of what it sounded like in 2006.”.
