Perhaps the most fascinating part of PLOT’s latest compilation is that although the artists featured are from different (sometimes vastly) parts of the world, they’re all speaking in a similar tongue.

In this case, it’s dub. Post-peak-time, sunrise-hour, hypnotic ebb-and-flow dub. Full of whispered textures and hazy low-ends, just propulsive enough to keep you from calling a cab home.

It’s such a vivid portrait of this particular moment at the rave that, if you’ve been there yourself, you can feel muscle memory kick in to the piston-like snares of Chloe Battelle’s abyssal ‘Vesper’ or the cavernous jungle of Oshiya B’s ‘Frank’s Formula’.

Elsewhere, Monile, Sean Fender and Ananda mine whatever’s left of the dancefloor, while gillielove and Banu lurk its periphery. PLOT’s commitment to queer, FLINTA* and BIPOC artists is palpable.

It’s during these sacred, soft-focus hours at the party that these communities thrive. Lived experience permeates the music here, making this an after-hours conversation worth joining.
