Featuring contributions from CC:DISCO!, James Murphy and Bob Weston, the track will raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity and the Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence.

A Records has released a charity cover of The Waterboys’ ‘The Whole Of The Moon’ in honour of late Optimo co-founder JD Twitch. Listen below.

Credited to The Watergirls, the cover was recorded by members of Optimo’s wider musical community following the Scottish DJ and producer’s diagnosis with terminal brain cancer in 2025.

Originally conceived as a personal tribute to Twitch, real name Keith McIvor, the track was never intended for release. After being shared among friends and members of the wider music community, however, it was decided that the recording should be released as a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to Beatson Cancer Charity and the Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence.

Initiated by Optimo affiliate Teamy, the project brought together contributors from across the electronic world to create the dancefloor-focused version, inspired by the spaces and parties associated with Optimo, including Planet Peach, Mas, and Sub Club.

The track features vocals from CC:DISCO!, Mhairi McClymont and Fantastic Twins, with Bob Weston on bass and A co-founder James Murphy contributing to the bridge.

Production and engineering come from Pearl M Wong, Mary Kiani and Pablo Morales, while Sean Johnston, aka Hardway Bros and co-founder of A Love From Outer Space, contributes two remixes.

The Watergirls describe it as their “first and last” track.

McIvor died on 19th September 2025, aged 57, just over two months after sharing his diagnosis. His death prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the music world, while a fundraiser launched by his family to support his care raised more than £147,000.

DJ Mag spoke to friends, artists and peers of Twitch about his life, work and lasting influence on the dancefloor. You can read the full tribute here.
