A new music-making video game that lets you save and export your music called Chunk DAW is currently in development.
The brainchild of producer, engineer and graphic designer sila mack, it uses a Minecraft-styled modular grid system comprising sound-carrying blocks that you can load and loop next to each other to play a sequence.
You can then play around with the mixing to adjust volume, BPM and make further modifications to the chunks. There are also hundreds of different materials for the blocks available.
Check out a short video clip introducing the game below. Chunk DAW is currently in open beta, and can be tested by joining sila mack's Discord channel.
Last year, Classic FM launched its new video game music radio show, Next Level, headed up by YouTuber Daniel Middleton — aka DanTDM — which has so far explored soundtracks such as The Legend of Zelda and Minecraft.
2025 also saw the release of Gorillaz's new Kong Studios online video game, which invites fans to “explore the rooms and spaces of 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel” and builds on the online world first shared by the group back in 1998.
