A new book on Velocity Press celebrates the key London rave party and label co-founded by Double O and Mantra in 2006.
A new book celebrating 20 years of Rupture, the key London jungle/drum & bass night and record label founded by Double O and Mantra in 2006, is set for release via Velocity Press.
We Are Rupture: Signals from the Heart of the Rave will be published on 13th November, and is set to honour the "community, Blackness and sound system heritage" of the event and imprint with a mix of stories, poetry, photography and other memories and reflections from attendees, artists, workers and event producers.
The book also pays tribute to the now-closed London venue Corsica Studios, Rupture's home of 18 years until it shut this past May. Ahead of the club closure, Rupture released the 'Corsica Forever' EP featuring Mantra, Double O, dBridge, Skeptical to pay homage to the crucial venue.
This isn’t about us; this isn’t about Rupture; This is about the music being driven forward and the whole culture, leaving a legacy and wanting it to build...", Mantra said in a press statement.
People from all walks of life, together, connected through music, is really, really powerful. It’s spiritual.
So far this year, Velocity Press has also published Aftershock: The Seismic Impact of Dubstep by former DJ Mag features editor Lauren Martin and Ukrainian Field Notes: Sound, Music and Voices from Ukraine After the Full-Scale Invasion by Gianmarco Del Re.
