Eddy Palermo, who founded BPMATHON, set the record for the longest distance run while DJing live on Saturday 8th August, covering 46. 7 kilometres while continuously mixing for eight hours.

The feat also made him the first person to complete an ultramarathon while performing a DJ set.

The event took place along The Underline, Miami’s 10-mile park stretching between Brickell and Dadeland, and was livestreamed worldwide. Palermo used a custom-built DJ rig on wheels, which he pushed along the route as he ran.

The setup featured an AlphaTheta OMNIS-DUO controller connected to WAVE-EIGHT speakers.

Palermo had originally set himself a 50-kilometre target for BPMATHON, and returned to a treadmill the following day to complete the remaining 3. 3km.

The event also raised money for Friends of The Underline, a Miami-based nonprofit working to promote healthier, more active lifestyles and create opportunities for people to utilise public spaces.

Further BPMATHON events are already in development, with Palermo planning to take the concept to other cities.

The Miami-based DJ has completed 14 other endurance races between 2020 and 2025, while his electronic music career has included appearances at Florida institutions including Ultra Music Festival and Club Space.

Last year, a man from the south coast of England set a Guinness World Record for the most vinyl shops visited in 24 hours.

In November, music industry charity Last Night A DJ Saved My Life is hosting an expedition to the Himalayas, culminating in what the organisation hopes will be the highest-altitude full moon party in history.

In January, Alok performed at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach in front of an estimated 2. 5 million people, in an event recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest New Year’s Eve gathering.
