The American electronic-ambient-folk artist appears on The Cover, our weekly cover franchise dedicated to emerging talent, ahead of her performance at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival this Saturday (August 29).
Quiet Light – aka Riya Mahesh – was profiled for The Cover by Cordelia Lam, and shot by photographer Sophia Liv Maguire for our exclusive photoshoot in Los Angeles.

Quiet Light signed to tastemaking label True Panther earlier this year, releasing the mixtape ‘Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2’. In her Cover story, Mahesh spoke to NME about her longtime passion for music turning into a burgeoning career – and how she’s balancing it with a job in medicine.
Quiet Light also spoke to NME about the artists who’ve inspired her. “People maybe underestimate the impact Clairo has had on self-produced female musicians,” she said.
