Gyrofield announces debut album, ‘Great Jobs’, shares single: Listen

Hong Kong-born, Netherlands-based artist Kiana Li takes inspiration from dub, post-industrial and post punk on their first LP, out next month.

Out 21st October on their recently launched label Field Research, 'Great Jobs' presents 10 new tracks that take inspiration from dub, post-industrial and post punk genres.

Post-punk became the canvas for re-contextualisation and re-expression, whilst soundsystem music was the groundwork", the Hong Kong-born and Netherlands-based artist Kiana Li said in a press statement.

Thematically, gyrofield's debut explores queer identity, empathy and the state of the world. "Many people’s lives are drastically so much worse at the moment", they said.

My emotions went between confounded, lost, and grasping at ideas of resistance and liberation. I required an outlet immediately, wanting to feel something unravel, and to show the bleeding heart of work.

On 'Great Jobs' you hear my introspective thoughts, impulses, and dissatisfaction with the world take shape and dissolve at the spotlight... Now the album is done, I’m glad it all happened that way.
