Beyoncé marks her birthday with deluxe remastered reissue of ‘B’DAY’

The coming-of-age second album was shared by Beyoncé back in September 2006, arriving on her 25th birthday having been recorded in a two-week session.

Featuring songs including ‘Déjà Vu’, ‘Irreplacable’ and ‘Ring The Alarm’, the release saw her present the new music as a visual album, featuring short films that explored the making of a relationship in full.

Now, to celebrate her birthday again, the pop star is releasing a deluxe remastered reissue of the album.

The songs have been remastered by Beyoncé, the videos are now remastered and re-colored and finished in 4k, and it also comes with some never-before-seen photos which were shot on location in New Orleans.

Out today (Friday September 4), the new reissue also comes with a brand new collaboration with Maluma on ‘Cuerpo Tumbao (Get Me Bodied)’ – the first time she has collaborated with the Colombian artist, and the song also contains a sample of Afro-Cuban star, Celia Cruz’s ‘La Negra Tiene Tumbao’.

Another new addition is ‘Irreemplazable (Como La Flor) featuring Selena’, which marks one of the rare times that the singer’s estate has granted approval of her music to another artist since her passing in 1995.

Available to order here, the 20th Anniversary Edition of ‘B’Day’ also comes with ‘MORNING DEW (DONK)’ included (which first leaked in 2023 and dropped as a remix with Jay-Z last month), a 60-page commemorative booklet and two collectible double-sided art prints.

B-sides featured are ‘Lost Yo Mind’, ‘Creole’ and ‘Back Up’, none of which were featured in the 2006 version of the album, as well as new gems including ‘Can I Watch You’, produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell, and ‘My First Time’, which was originally recorded for Beyoncé’s debut solo album, ‘Dangerously In Love’, but was taken off the final tracklist.

The ‘B’Day 20th Anniversary Edition Deluxe’ tracklist is.

  1. ‘Déjà Vu (Feat. Jaÿ – z)’ 2. ‘Get Me Bodied’ 3. ‘Suga Mama’ 4. ‘Upgrade U (Feat. Jaÿ – z)’ 5. ‘Ring the Alarm’ 6. ‘Kitty Kat’ 7. ‘Freakum Dress’ 8. ‘Green Light’ 9

In other Beyoncé news, speculation about her next full-length project is ongoing, with fans continuing to look for clues about the long-awaited ‘Act III’.

It is expected to complete the trilogy that began with 2022’s ‘Renaissance’ and continued with 2024’s ‘Cowboy Carter’, although no official details about the project have been confirmed.
