A estrela britânica juntou-se a Madonna no palco para uma apresentação de seu novo single colaborativo, ‘Danceteria Afterhours’, surgindo de um dos banheiros que faziam parte do cenário.

The track is a new remix of ‘Danceteria’, taken from Madonna’s latest LP, ‘Confessions II’.

A performance marcou a primeira vez que a Rainha do Pop cantou ao vivo na cerimônia em 23 anos. Sua última aparição foi em 2003, quando ela executou um medley com Britney Spears e Christina Aguilera.

At this year’s VMAs, Madonna was also joined on stage by Sabrina Carpenter for ‘Bring Your Love’, their collaborative single. The pair later picked up the Best Collaboration award for the track.

During the acceptance speech, Madonna explained how the track came together: “Anybody who knows me knows how impatient I am, and when five days passed and I still didn’t get connected to Sabrina or hear back whether she wanted to do a song with me, I DM’d her.

The performance also featured appearances from a number of other familiar faces, including Ozark and Weapons star Julia Garner, actor Debi Mazar, and singer-songwriter Sombr.

She ultimately took home seven awards, including Best Dance and Best Collaboration for ‘Bring Your Love’ with Sabrina Carpenter.

It marked the third time she has led the nominations. She previously topped the field with nine nominations in 1998 for ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘Frozen’, and again in 1990 following the release of ‘Vogue’.

Released in July, ‘Confessions II’ is a sequel to the US artist’s seminal 2005 album, ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’, which featured hits such as ‘Hung Up’ and ‘Sorry’.

In April, Madonna debuted several tracks from the new album during a surprise DJ set at LA nightclub, The Abbey. Meanwhile, Garrix played out the duo’s collaborative single, ‘Bizarre’, for the first time during the final night of his three-show run at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in June.
