Toliver was performing at the Kaseya Center in the city yesterday (August 22) as part of his ongoing ‘Nitrous’ tour, and near the end of the set, he welcomed Timberlake as his surprise guest.
Together, they performed Timberlake’s 2003 hit ‘Rock Your Body’, before moving into Toliver’s ‘Body’, which sampled the former song. Toliver had already played ‘Body’ earlier in the set, but revived it for the Timberlake cameo.
It was Timberlake’s first public performance since January, when he paid tribute to his frequent collaborator Pharrell Williams at the Recording Academy Honours Black Music Collective event in Los Angeles.

Before that appearance in January, Timberlake had not performed since his ‘Forget Tomorrow’ world tour concluded in Istanbul in July last year.
It was at the end of that trek that he revealed he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease, describing the condition as “relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically”.
He said he had considered ending the tour early, but decided that “the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling”.
The tour was affected by several health setbacks, with Timberlake postponing shows after being diagnosed with bronchitis and laryngitis, and cancelled shows due to flu and injuries.
In March, police bodycam footage from Timberlake’s 2024 DWI arrest was released after he reached a settlement over his privacy lawsuit against the local police department.
Timberlake’s latest album ‘Everything I Thought I Was’ came out in 2024 and in a three-star review, NME wrote: “‘Everything I Thought It Was’ shows he hasn’t lost his vocal chops or ability to work a groove, but it doesn’t do enough to make you block out past misdemeanours.
For now, Timberlake’s problematic fave era will have to wait.”.
Toliver, meanwhile, released his fifth album ‘Octane’ in January, and the ‘Nitrous’ tour continues throughout the rest of the year, arriving in the UK in November.
