On Tuesday (Aug. 18), Grammy-winning multidisciplinary artist Solange shared an emotional tribute to the late actress, with whom she starred in 2006’s Bring It On: All or Nothing.

The “Cranes in the Sky” singer supplemented her lengthy tribute with three additional screengrabs from the cult classic film, including a final shot of the two stars gazing at each other with the caption, “Warriors 4 life.”.

Solange continued her tribute writing, “i salute your journey, and i honor the work we created together that became something that really means something to people…reaching people we couldn’t have ever imagined at the time, as two young girls, trying to keep looking to the light.

the light surrounds you now. rest easy hayden.”.

Panettiere died just three months after she published her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, in which she detailed her lifelong struggles with mental health and addiction, both of which were exacerbated by her child stardom and the postpartum depression she experienced after welcoming her first and only child, daughter Kaya, 11, in 2014.

In May, the two-time Golden Globe-nominated actress also publicly came out as bisexual.

Bring It On: All or Nothing arrived in August 2006 as a direct-to-DVD sequel, marking the third installment in the beloved high-school cheerleading franchise. Panettiere and Solange (then billed as Solange Knowles-Smith) starred as an enemies-to-friends duo, with a baby-faced Rihanna making a cameo as herself.

Following All or Nothing, Panettiere continued her onscreen career with starring turns in Heroes (2006-2010), Scream 4 (2011) and Nashville (2012-2018). Solange shifted her primary focus to music, dropping the Billboard 200-topping A Seat at the Table in 2016, and the acclaimed When I Get Home in 2019.

The Greenville, S. C. County Coroner’s office said in a release on Monday (Aug. 17) that after medical personnel found Panettiere in cardiac arrest on Sunday night (Aug.

16), they tried to resuscitate her and attempted other life-saving measures to no avail. The Grammy-nominated voice actress was reportedly pronounced dead about half an hour after EMS arrived on the scene.

An official cause and manner of death remain pending at press time.
