Combs, who is serving a four-plus year prison sentence on charges of transporting to engage in prostitution, is seeking an undisclosed sum of damages from Jones.
He also calls for Jones to return the footage and destroy any copies still in his possession. Pitchfork has emailed representatives for both parties for comment.
Jones expanded on some of these allegations in Sean Combs: The Reckoning, making statements that Combs’ countersuit claims are defamatory. Combs has vehemently denied all of Jones’ allegations through his lawyers, and does so once again in the lawsuit.
He claims Jones is engaged in a “campaign for revenge and to profit from Mr. Combs,” in some part because Combs refused to pay Jones more than the agreed-upon fee for their work together.
The four-part Netflix special went on to earn an Emmy nomination. Part of Combs’ counterclaim over the allegedly stolen footage stems from a claim that Combs is working on his own documentary about his “extraordinary and historic achievements.”.
