Hackney Council has launched a new interactive "Night Map", which aims to provide real-time information on local amenities, transport and more for those attending venues in the borough.

Part of the council’s Hackney Nights campaign, the map brings together details of accredited nightlife venues, including their locations, opening times and wheelchair accessibility, alongside nearby toilets, drinking water and phone charging points.

Users can also plan their journey home using live bus information and cycle routes. The map is accessible via QR codes displayed on posters in venue windows and on keyrings across Hackney.

The initiative is designed to make the borough’s nightlife safer and more inclusive. Venues must be accredited by the council to feature on the map, with eligibility based on meeting safety and inclusivity standards.

The council has also trained around 4,400 night-time workers in safeguarding over the past seven years.

Home to a number of electronic music institutions, including MOTH Club, Dalston Superstore, Night Tales, Colour Factory, The Glove That Fits, and EarTH, Hackney Council has also promised a new Cultural Strategy will be implemented over the next 12 months, including targeted measures to better support nightlife, social, and cultural spaces.

One of the area’s beloved record shops, The BBE Store, is currently fighting for survival following noise complaints from the residents of a new apartment building nearby.
