The film stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Diego Calva and Cara Delevingne, alongside appearances from artists Shygirl, Saturn Risin9 and River Moon.
Written, directed by and starring Jordan Firstman, the film follows a New York club promoter whose life is upended when he discovers he has a 10-year-old son. As he attempts to connect with his child, he must navigate fatherhood alongside his nightlife career and personal relationships.
Speaking to Deadline, Firstman said his experiences in nightlife, including time spent partying in Berlin, helped inform the film. “I went through a break-up, and that partner and I, we partied a lot together.
He was in Berlin, and so I had just a lot of exposure to that scene and was just partying a lot myself and finding myself at this crossroads where the drugs were not hitting like they used to.”.
Club Kid was selected for the Cannes Film Festival in May and is also set to screen at the Toronto, New York and Telluride film festivals this autumn. It is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on 6th November.
